Josh began studying Cello when he and his family moved to the United States more than a decade ago. He continued to hone his musical talents in the beautiful city of New Orleans at Loyola University New Orleans, under the tutelage of Professor Philip von Maltzahn and the late Dr. Allen Nisbet.

Dennis Parker
Dennis Parker is a cellist and passionate educator, whose pedagogic materials have been used by cello students on all continents. Live performances have taken him around the world for the past 40 years.
His numerous recordings and publications embrace a wide range of genres, original transcriptions, and rarely performed works, both new and old. He is also a “reconstructionist” sculptor, recycling and creating artwork from silenced musical instruments, found objects and other forms of ephemera.

Cellist Eduard Teregulov is a soloist, chamber musician, and educator. Winner of several regional and international competitions, including the Youth String Competition in Magnitogork, Russia, the International competition “Citta Di Barletta” in Italy, and NOLA Chamber Fest in the United States.

John-Henry Crawford
Crawford has performed extensively as soloist and recitalist, spanning 25+ states in the U.S. and international appearances in Brazil, Canada, Costa Rica, France, Germany, Mexico, the Canary Islands and Switzerland. Notable venues include The International Concert Series of the Louvre in Paris and Volkswagen’s Die Gläsern Manufaktur in Dresden, as well as participation in the inaugural season of the Tippet Rise Arts Center in Montana. He made his solo debut with the Philadelphia Orchestra after winning the Greenfield Competition, and his concerto credits include performances with the Memphis Symphony, Shreveport Symphony, Orquesta Sinfonica de Aguascalientes, Greenwich Village Orchestra, and Highland Park Strings.

Anna Herrera
Anna Herrera is originally from Caracas, Venezuela. She holds a MM and a BM in Cello Performance from Louisiana State University, where she studied under the studio of Dennis Parker. Other career development certifications include Suzuki teacher training and CelloBello’s CelloKids Teacher Training Seminar.
Anna has performed with many ensembles in the Baton Rouge area such as Opéra Louisiane, Louisiana Sinfonietta and the New Orleans Opera. She was the Assistant Principal Cellist of the Acadiana Symphony Orchestra and a member of the cello section of the Baton Rouge Symphony. Back in her hometown, she would also perform with the Venezuelan Symphony Orchestra and the Caracas Municipal Orchestra.

Najeeb Sabour is a New Orleans-born, Texas-raised, “Southern” American, cellist, and singer-songwriter. Najeeb combines his education in classical and contemporary music along with his cultural experiences to shape his eclectic style of composing music. Pulled from a diverse background of communities and molded into his own style of performing and teaching, Najeeb navigates the audience through a unique journey of modern storytelling.

Helen Gillet
Helen Gillet is a jazz-based cellist, singer, composer, and improviser. She grew up in Belgium, Singapore, Chicago, and Wisconsin. Performing her own eclectic mix of French, contemporary jazz, North Indian, blues, and classical styles, Gillet has forged a path for the cello in the New Orleans music scene since her arrival in 2002, winning Best Female Performer (2014 Gambit Big Easy Awards), Best Mixed Bag (2012 Gambit Big Easy Awards), and Best Contemporary Jazz (2011 Gambit Big Easy Awards). Beloit College is proud to claim her as a graduate of the class of 2000.
