DJ Jive

I was into music early, studying piano, and performing an original song titled โ€œIf I were Presidentโ€ to my third-grade class. I went on to record and tour with John Cale (Velvet Underground), Sparks, and The Call. I was always interested in radio as it was the life blood of the music business back in those days. I went to most of the radio interviews with the lead singer of The Call, Michael Been, and got a good look at the magic of radio. Naturally, at age 60, when Lazlo asked if I wanted to be a DJ on Jive Radio (KJIV 96.5FM Madras, OR), I said โ€œyes.โ€ I am finding it to be every bit as fun and exciting as I thought it might be. I am trying to bring as much community service to my show as I can, including playing a lot of local and regional artists, talking about their shows, and doing the Live Jive Gig Report every day. Iโ€™ve also got a friend in New Orleans who is feeding me current artists from The Big Easy. I am calling the segment โ€œNew New Orleans Jive.โ€ All of this fits nicely with the general Jive Radio playlist. I hope you will join me on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 9 to Noon for The Live Jive Show with DJ Jim.
