Dr. Jonathan (Jon) Noffsinger
(Doc) is professor of saxophone & jazz studies at the University of Alabama. He joined the faculty of the School of Music in 1993. Previously, he held positions at Eastern Illinois University in Charleston, Illinois and Albion College, in Albion, Michigan. A native of Murray, Kentucky, Jonathan Noffsinger received his BME from Murray State University and his MM in Saxophone Performance from Louisiana State University. Mr. Noffsinger won a coveted gold medal in Saxophone Performance as a student of Jean-Marie Londeix at the National Conservatory in Bordeaux, France and earned the DMA at Michigan State University where he studied with James Forger.
Sherman Irby
Sherman Irby was born and raised in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. He found his calling to music at age 12. In high school, he played and recorded with gospel immortal James Cleveland.
He graduated from Clark Atlanta University with a B. A. in Music Education. In 1991, he joined Johnny O’Neal’s Atlanta-based quintet. In 1994, he moved to New York City, then recorded his first two albums, Full Circle (1996) and Big Mama’s Biscuits (1998), on Blue Note Records.
Zedric Teague
Zedric Teague is a talented saxophonist originally from Huntsville, Alabama, now
proudly residing in Loudoun County, Virginia. His music embodies a captivating
blend of jazz, gospel, and contemporary influences, enchanting audiences with his
soulful and expressive performances.
Charles P Walker Sax
Born in Hueytown, Alabama, Charles began playing the saxophone at the age of twelve. Two years later at the age of fourteen, his unique skills and passion for jazz music opened the door of opportunity for him to begin playing at the Hopewell Baptist Church in Wylam, Alabama. Charles quickly became one of Birmingham’s most sought after saxophonists for everything from live jazz music to events, parties and appearing in churches.

Tim Stuart
Now based near Montgomery, AL, Tim is a senior leader and instructor-qualified musician in the 313th U.S. Army Band (Huntsville, AL), where he serves as a Musical Performance Team Leader and acting First Sergeant. Outside of his military role, he is the founder and bandleader of the jazz-fusion-funk project Half Step Revolution, as well as the co-founder, musical & marketing director, and pianist for the Montgomery Jazz Alliance. He is also a saxophonist with the blues rock experience Aaron Bostic & The Greater Good and a featured guest performer and clinician with the high-energy Gumptown Brass Band. Tim performs saxophone, piano, and percussion with the Virginia-based roots-rock band John Paul Douglas & The Bitter Trades (formerly Who Shot John), appearing prominently on their 2024 album Cut No Switch. Now in his third season as a dueling pianist, he collaborates with performers such as Nathan Sangsland, Brian Lee, and Tonya Scott. A versatile freelance artist, he performs at weddings, corporate events, and festivals throughout the Southeastern U.S. and appears as a solo act under the moniker Solo Sax Live!, blending live performance with custom studio-produced backing tracks.
Quincy Chapman
Quincy A. Chapman (ColossusTheKid) is a distinguished saxophonist, poet, and writer, standing out as a multifaceted talent in the world of Jazz-Pop fusion. Positioned at the forefront of a new era in music, Chapman’s artistry resonates with audiences worldwide, garnering recognition for his innovative approach.
